Following is a description of our structured life-cycle process used in working with and meeting the needs of our customers:
Project Life Cycle
InitiationWhen Website Development Svcs (WDS) receives an inquiry from a potential customer, we follow-up to obtain the following information:
General requirements would include variation/level of features (See Website Specs Page). Also, WDS will need to know post-implementation expectations regarding continued support and maintenance of the new website. With this information WDS will respond with an analysis/design proposal. A detailed list of information required by the developer for the initial site build, including photos and documents, will be attached to the proposal for customers who elect to continue with the project. These photos/documents will need to be provided in digital form for use in beginning construction and determining pricing options. As a minimum, we will require documents specified in Florida Statute 718.111(12)(g)1. Click on the following link to view this statute: FL Website Statute. If, after the customer reviews the proposal, he/she elects to proceed, the customer will need to sign a contract and pay a commitment/retainer fee. |
Analysis & DesignIn the Analysis and Design phase, Website Development Svcs (WDS) analyzes the customer's requirements, submitted data, and website design ideas/suggestions. From these WDS:
The prototype website is then reviewed with the customer to:
Please see the Design Page of this website for examples of possible pages for inclusion in the customer's website. |
ConstructionDuring this phase of the project, WDS codes and unit tests the developing website. This includes construction of the individual web pages, providing/testing the menus and linkages, and entering/verifying results from any test data input. As part of this project phase, documentation and a user-training plan will be prepared. |
Acceptance TestingAt the start of the Acceptance Testing phase, WDS delivers the finished website to the customer and provides credentials for accessing and making any changes (as required) to the website. Even if WDS retains responsibility for continued maintenance and enhancement of the website, the customer will receive general knowledge as to what's involved in updating the website. Acceptance Testing requires the customer to review the finished website page-by-page for any errors in content or grammar and to document these. Also, the customer will need to check the menus, photos, and links to make sure that all are properly connected. He/she will need to ensure that the actual data, photos, documents and descriptions previously provided are properly utilized in the completed website. At this time any additional data can be added through the normal production update process. Any/all errors or minor corrections will be documented by the customer and submitted to WDS. In most cases these will be addressed by WDS prior to final customer payment. |
Installation & EvaluationOnce the customer has completed acceptance testing and has documented any issues, the issues will be addressed by WDS. Once addressed, the final website product will be installed in production. At that time, ownership of the website is turned over to the customer. Documentation review and customer training also occurs. WDS requests that the customer evaluates the quality of the finished product and the quality of customer service provided. If WDS retains responsibility for on-going maintenance and enhancement of the customer's website, then a support plan with associated pricing will be negotiated. If the customer assumes website maintenance responsibility, he/she will be provided with information regarding website hosting requirements/cost, any plugin cost/maintenance, and FDS help desk services. |
